Ghostbusters: The Game

April 22, 2009

Ghostbusters

This isn’t the first Ghostbusters title, but is obviously the best by quite some distance due to the huge leap in technology since the 90s when we last saw Ghostbusters games on any console or computer system. Prepare to be spooked once again!

This latest Ghostbusters game, simply titled Ghostbusters: The Video Game, is something along the lines of a sequal to the Ghostbusters II movie, and the in-game events are set in the year 1991. The stars who made the films such a success are on board with this project, and the game was even co-written by two of them - Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd.

The actual plot of the game is wafer thin - you a ghost buster, you bust ghosts - what more could there be too it? It’s hard to say right now with details quite difficult to come by but there will be something more for sure. What we do know is that you take the role of a new recruit and join the Ghostbusters on their investigations into a recent rise in paranormal activity, which appears to be linked to their old foe Gozer, who fans of the films should remember.

The game looks good, and by all accounts it has the gameplay to match too! Ghostbusters is currently due to be released on June 19th 2009, and will be available on PC, XBox 360, Wii, PS3, PS2 and Nintendo DS. The game is expected to be a simple port on each system with the obvious exceptions of Playstation 2 and Nintendo DS.
