Silent Hill Homecoming
May 11, 2009

I know The Silent Hill series is meant to be in the survival horror category but do the game developers really have to make it as intense as it is, I’m just saying I want to leave this game with out having to look over my shoulder to make sure there isn’t some creepy but oddly sexy nurse with no face making a noise I’ve never herd before, coming up behind me to slit my throat.
Silent Hill Homecoming, that name makes sense once you’ve played the game, it puts you in the role of Alex Shepherd who has returned to his home town in search of his brother Josh, or at least that’s why I think he went back home. Once you get into town you meet up with some people Alex used to know like his mom, Ell and Ell’s mom, then you start to realize that something is terribly wrong, how so you ask, well besides the fact that there are some pretty weird creatures crawling out of Satan’s butt to try and kill you there’s also the problem of finding your missing brother Josh, who for some reason keeps running away from you, Alex most not have been a very good brother, oh and the doors can close them self, wish I had those.
Your weapons fall into to categories of melee and fire arms, fire arms put those weirdos down hard and fast, the melee weapons not so much. When in melee combat next to a wall the camera flickers between 2nd and 3rd person which is not a good thing trust me. The melee combat in the game is basic at best, pick the right melee weapon for the right type of enemy and hack away with the same combo over and over until said enemy is dead, for the fire arms ammo is sparse so the joy can only last so long.
The sounds and environments in this game are amazing I’m constantly turning around at random noise’s the game developers throw in for the hell of it. Konami was able to give you a flashlight but still keep you in the dark about what’s ten feet in front of you, which is nice to see in a survival horror game. The enemies in Homecoming are beautiful to look at, a pleasure to be around, will hurt your brain trying to figure out how they ended up like that, and not as fun to kill. Your enemies can be heard before you see them, finding them on the other hand is not as easy, but if you stand still long enough they’ll find you.
Saving in the game has to be done at random locations after or before key plot points. The change between worlds is one of the most intense things I’ve ever experienced in a horror game, and I love it. The boss battles in Homecoming are nothing short of epic and well haunt your nightmares for weeks If not months. I love the enemies in this game but the noise the make when they attack or are being attacked is just to annoying and repetitive also the same type of enemies will always die the same way depending on the attack. Enemies will often queue in lines to take a crack at you, not cool Kunami.
The art direction for the enemies in the game are superb, for the human characters not so much, it looks like everyone’s teeth are trying to get out of their mouths. Homecoming is a welcome addition in my eyes and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good survival horror game and willing to spend the cash.
There isn’t alot for me to complain about and I enjoy seeing those Nurse’s so much that I give Silent Hill Homecoming a 4/5.
My experience with Silent Hill Homecoming: Was a pleasant stroll through Silent Hill. As with most games the enemies are my favorite part and the variety of ways you can kill them. Homecoming has the enemies I adore but hasn’t quit got the variety down which made this game less enjoyable for me. I loved the boss battles they made me scream OMFG WTF HTF at my television. My favorite thing about this game are the enemies my favorite enemy is the Nurse I can’t get over how sexy they looks in that dress, that weird noise they make and how they try to slit my throat repeatedly. Anyway I <3 this game and recommend you buy it.
