Resident Evil 5
May 25, 2009

Let me start this review by saying this is not a bad game it’s just not what everyone was expecting, and no that doesn’t make it a bad game.
The combat in Resident Evil 5 has stayed the same as Resident Evil 4’s, you can’t move when aiming with any weapon, but the laser cross-hair is hard to control. Shoot an enemy in the face or leg and you will stun them, then you can run up to them and punch them in the face. There is something new, if you’re Chris you can perform a less then satisfying finisher on a downed enemy and if you’re Sheva you can perform a more then less satisfying finisher on a downed enemy, your knife is huge this time round but does about the same amount of damage as Leon’s in RE4.
Resident Evil 5’s art direction is stunningly realistic, unlike most games I play the human characters actually look human, it’s nice to see Sheva having a nice face to go with her body. The realism of Resident Evil 5 is what kept me playing until the end of the story and play through again on a harder difficultly, as with every game I play the enemies are my favorite, there variety, realism and how you get to end there existence.
There are a variety of enemies in Resident Evil 5 and a good choice of weapons to use, the presentation of the enemies is immaculate, although there movements and how they attack are lacking. The enemy will slowly walk up to you with the exception of a few random infected and attack you when you are in range, you can do away with most enemies before they reach you, But what the enemy lacks in intelligence they make up in numbers.
The story is typical RE fare, Chris goes to Kijuju on orders from the organization he works for the BSAA Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance to stop a viral out break and Chris is looking for his lost partner Jill Valentine. You are accompanied by Sheva Alomar a fellow BSAA member in your endeavour to stop chemical terrorism. Co-op in Resident Evil 5 is just a poor way to cover up Sheva’s terrible AI, not to say it isn’t fun playing with a friend in co-op but I think the fact they were going to put co-op in made the game developers skimp on her AI. About Sheva’s AI it’ll waste all it’s pistol ammo even if I give it another gun and then run off and find more pistol ammo before I can and waste that to, also I here alot of people say she wastes herbs when you and her have perfectly fine health bars I disagree she has only ever used her herbs on me and her when our health bars were depleted dramatically.
The case from Resident Evil 4 that you loved so much has stayed exactly the same in Resident Evil 5 except for the fact it is absolute sucky, the new case has only nine slots and a egg takes up as much space as a M37 shotgun and you can’t increase size. I like the option to have a mini map I actually now where I’m going in this game.
The game has not changed since Resident Evil 4, which is not a bad thing the gameplay in RE4, is solid and fun. If you pick this game up on the Play Station 3 it’ll feel like your play Resident Evil 4, if your cool like me and buy it for the Xbox 360 it’ll take some getting use to but will feel like RE4 all over again. If this game was not apart of the Resident Evil series it would be a perfect game in my eyes but since it is it’s a fail for RE fans but as a game it is a solid experience that I would recommend to anyone who loves 3rd person shooters. I give Resident Evil 5 a 4/5
My Experience With Resident Evil 5: Was a pump action war around Kijuju, I enjoyed the realism of the violence and characters especially the enemies that’s all that I can really say.
