Using Miracles
To use Miracles, you will need the support of your Villagers to get enough Prayer
Power to cast them. While this is normally a rather abstract idea, it will have
to be quantified in order for the Miracles to work. To do this, you will need a
Worship Site. Whenever you conquer a new land, the villager in it will build one
for you. This 1st happens on Land Two, and the game walks you through the
arduous process. The problem with building Worship Sites is that it takes a long
time to get them up and running. One way to speed up the process is to remove a
bunch of Villagers from one location and set them as Builder Disciples in the
new land.
Once your Worship Site is fully operational, it's time to raise the village
totem. This statue is a likeness of your avatar creature. When you raise the
totem, you will send a percentage of Villagers to the Worship site. As you
adjust the Totem, you will see the percentage number above it. Obviously, the
bigger your worship base, the more Prayer Power you will get from a smaller
percentage. At first, you will want to put about 50% of your Villagers on Worship
duty, then decrease the percentage to 25% as your settlement grows.
Once Villagers start going to the Worship Site, you will be able to cast Miracles
with their help. You can do this in 2 ways. Either pick up the one-time
Miracles scattered around the land and use the Action Button to cast them. Or,
learn the symbols to trace on the ground. This is by far the better way to cast,
as you never run out and can do Miracles anywhere.
Make sure the Worship Site meets your Villagers' needs. Place enough food there
so that when they get hungry (worshipping takes a lot out of you!) they can feed
themselves. Also, keep an eye on general health. If they are getting weary, you
may think about using some Heal miracles to cure their ills.
*** In the center of the Worship Site is an altar. If you pick up a Villager
and place him or her on it, you will sacrifice him or her. This is good to make
a quick impression and grow a little Belief, but in the long run is a bad way to
get supporters... you will run out

Types of Miracles
Food
When you use the Food Miracle, a cornucopia will appear on the screen. Use it to
dispense around 700 units of food to your hungry villagers. This is great when
the surplus runs out and you need to fill it in a hurry.

Freeze
The Freeze miracle should be used to hinder your opponent's Creature. Casting it
on the Creature will cause it to become enclosed in a sleeve of ice, giving you
a short window of time to operate while it is trapped. The advantage is twofold:
the opposing god's Creature can not touch your villages and it won't be there to
help out its own.

Mega Blast
Mega Blast is mega rare, but if you have the opportunity to cast it, it is a
powerful miracle, indeed. In fact, you won't really get the opportunity to use
it until Land Five. Once you gain the Mega Blast, though, you will be able to
pretty much destroy anything with a solid beam of total power. Construct an
Aztec Wonder and use the Blast to do even more damage.

Lightning Bolt
Like the Fireball, the Lightning Bolt is a miracle of destruction. There are 2
ways to use it. Press and hold the Action button to concentrate the power of the
bolt on one point. This will cause damage to whatever you're clicking on. In
addition, if you direct the blast at something flammable, it will likely catch
fire. Lightning fire spreads just like that created by the Fireball.
However, you can also use Lightning Bolt to create a sort of pyrotechnics show
by simply tapping the button. This is effective when trying to impress another
village without damaging it.

Winged Creatures
Hmmm... this is an odd miracle. Basically what it does is release a bunch of
"winged creatures" a la the title from the place where it was cast. They'll be
doves if you're good and bats if you're bad. The only thing it is good for is
growing Belief, so make sure you cast it near a crowd.

Control
Since navigation is such a big part of this game, personalizing control is key
to your success and enjoyment of the game. While point and click control is
well developed, we found that it is quicker to assign movement to the
keyboard. Map the movement controls to the AWSD buttons, like a 1st person
shooter. Set Q and E for camera rotation, and R and F to change pitch. This
will make controlling your god hand quick and easy, and keep your other hand
free to use the two-button mouse and zoom wheel.
Double-clicking is another great way to move around the map and quickly zoom
in on action you want to be a part of. Whenever moving around the map, zoom
out and tilt down to get a bigger perspective. It will save you a lot of time
and frustration to see the whole island and simply click to the region you
want to be in.
While your powers only work within areas you control, you can affect areas
outside of your domain for a very brief period of time. By quickly crossing
outside of your realm of influence, you can grab valuable resources and even
rival villagers that you can convert or sacrifice to gain more Miracle power.

April Fools
Set your computer's clock to April Fool's Day and your creature will leave happy
face footprints on the ground.

Pump up the size of your beast with this handy miracle. This is good for
impressing new villages and little else. Of course, it is better to grow the
creature through traditional means, but this will do the trick in a pinch.

Hack: Miracle Selection
This involves fiddling with game files; make back ups of the original files
before proceeding.

To get any miracle in a level that you haven't played yet, you have to go into
the game folder and into the Scripts directory.

You will see 5 folders and a bunch of text files. When you open a text file like
Land5.txt you will see a lot of lines of programming for that level. Scroll down
until you find a line like this: CREATE_TOWN(0, "1294.81,3551.24", "PLAYER_ONE",
7, "NORSE") somewhere below that you will see a series of lines that say
CREATE_NEW_TOWN_SPELL and has the spell name in parenthesis. All you have to do
is change the spell name and when you go to that level you will have the spell
you typed in instead of the normal one

Pack of Animals
If you didn't impress your village enough with flying animals, you might want to
try ground versions. Use this miracle the same way--cast it near a group of
potential worshippers to wow the highest number possible. But watch out. The
released animals may go after your precious humans, and that is generally bad.

Holy Flies
This is like the Freeze Miracle in that it incapacitates the opposing Creature
for a short while, allowing you to forget about him for awhile. Instead of Ice,
though, the beast is bothered by a swarm of pesky flies, which will keep him
irritated and out of your hair.

Heal
Another relatively inexpensive miracle, Heal is limited in scope, but can grow
Belief quickly. Use it on your villagers when their Life meter dips below 40. If
you cast this in a small group, you will effectively heal a number of them. A
good way to heal a bunch at a time is to call 100% of them to the Temple, then
heal them as they worship you.

Creature Management
The creature you choose will be your agent in the world. Since its actions are
a reflection of your desires, how your creature interacts with the world will
say a lot about you as a god. For instance, if you teach your creature to eat
villagers, they will probably not worship you as readily as if you teach your
creature to help them.
When your creature does something you approve of, rub its belly until the Good
Boy meter fills up. Likewise, if your creature does something wrong (like
abusing a villager), slap it around by pressing the action button and moving
the mouse back and forth across the creature's body. Target your slaps to
produce different results. For instance, if you hit it hard in the feet,
you will knock the creature down.
Whatever you do in front of your creature will be witnessed and absorbed.
Therefore, if you pick villagers up and throw them against rocks, your
creature will see this as an acceptable behavior. Don't do anything in front
of your creature that you wouldn't want it to see and do.
Mmmm... poo. You can make your creature eat anything, even its own excrement.
As soon as it picks up an item, rub its belly. It will eat whatever is in its
hand: trees, rocks, villagers. Keep in mind that your creature has a
personality, and therefore has likes and dislikes. Watch its reaction after
eating food. The ape likes different food from the tiger and cow. Certain
foods can give creatures bowel and/or regurgitation problems... so watch out.
Make sure the learning leash is on when you're trying to teach your creature
or it won't learn as fast. It is especially useful to have it on when
performing Miracles, as the creature will learn how to perform the same
miracles himself.
Use your creature to enhance the environment. Try to teach it not to relieve
itself in front of the temple or in town. This will stink up the joint and
cause general unrest. If you can teach it to poo in the fields, it will help
fertilize crops, making an otherwise unsavory element quite useful.

Wood
Like the Food miracle, the Wood miracle fills a basic villager need quickly.
Also like the Food miracle, this one will yield about 700 pieces of wood for
your trouble. This is a good one to teach to your Creature, so he can handle
this mundane task while you set up and run your villages.

Compassion
This is the opposite of the Aggression Miracle. If another god's avatar is
wreaking havoc in your village, this will temporarily cool his jets, regardless
of the leash he's wearing.

Aggression
Cast this Miracle on a Creature to make him aggressive. Simple as that. You
don't want to use it on your own Creature, but if you can cast it on another
god's beast in its own village, you can do a lot of damage not only to the
physical village but the villagers' morale.

EASTER EGGS

Norse mini-game
On the fourth land, near the town you began, there is a path that goes down.
There is a man in a cave here. Throw him away as far as you can. The further you
throw him, the more tribure you will get. Set new records to get more tribute
each time. This is NOT a quest and doesn't show up anywhere.

Physical Shield
You'll get the Physical Shield early on during the Story of Land Two, at the
same time you get the Fireball. A Physical Shield, as shown by the
demonstration, is especially handy against attacks by another god. A Shield will
deflect rocks that are thrown--but will get damaged if it is battered too much.
To cast this miracle, draw a line around what you want to protect, and an

organically latticed dome will spring up in the circle you've designated.

Miracle List
Miracles are an integral part of gameplay, both for you as the god proper and
your creature as your avatar. They are mostly used to gain influence, but some
can be used in godly and creature combat as well.

Forest
For your money, it is probably better to use Wood miracles than to cast the
Forest miracle. The reason? Imperminence. When you cast it, a large tree will be
created, with several smaller trees surrounding it. Sure, the villagers can use
it for wood, but you will have to rely on Prayer Power to maintain it. Since it
doesn't yield a lot of wood right away, you will have to let it grow, and this
will take prolonged Prayer Power... a changing commodity.

Tips For Getting Started

Water
One of the cheapest miracles you can cast, Water is also one of the most useful
in the long run, simply because it has so many applications. Use it to help
water your villagers' fields and teach it to your creature so he can do it while
you're away. Use it to earn the gratitude of worshippers whose houses and fields
catch fire from stray lightning. Or, use lightning to ignite trees near your
village, then douse them. Not only will this impress the onlookers, it will grow
your belief.

Strength
Casting this Miracle during Creature Combat will temporarily give your avatar a
strength boost, making his blows sting the opponent a little more. Watch where
you cast it, though. You don't want your foe getting a boost.

SECRETS

Afford anything
This can be a complicated but nifty little trick that not everyone will know.
This will NOT work on pre-saved games.
Go to the directory where you installed Black & White 2, and find the file
"GameBalanceArtefact.txt" in dataBalance directory
copy the file to a safe location--you may need it later. once you have done
this, open the file stored in the directory listed above. You will see the
values for everything on the tribute menu. Look for something similar to this:
ARTEFACT_EPIC_WONDER_NUMBER_VOLCANO 100000
disregard the other numbers. change the value directly to the right of any
artefact and you WILL change it's tribute cost in the game. Do not change it
below 1000 because it may not work properly. You can do this with every one, but
make sure to change the total cost at the end of the file to whatever it now ads
up to.

Spiritual Shield
The Spiritual Shield is a close cousin to the Physical Shield in its
application, but not its purpose. As with Physical Shield, just draw a line
around what you'd like to protect. If you enclose your village in a Spiritual
Shield, other gods will not be able to sway them and draw their favor. The
Spiritual Shield requires a steady stream of prayer power to keep going, so keep
at least 25% of your village at the Temple.

Weakness
This Miracle has the opposite effect that Strength has during Creature Combat.
Since it weakens the Creature, you will want to direct it at your foe.

Infinite Food and Wood
Instead of activiting a food or wood miracle above the appropriate location,
place your hand above the door and continously tap the action button, the
miracle will never run out and you will recieve enormous amounts at a time.

Invisible
Casting this Miracle on your Creature will render him temporarily transparent,
allowing him to infiltrate an enemy camp without fear of being seen. This is
good to avoid the watchful eye of another god, but keep in mind that you are not
fully invisible. Everyone can still see your magic aura.

The fastest way to send ALL of your worshippers to the next world
Cancel out all of your Teleport spells. Turn up the Totem to a 100% in all of
your villages and cast 2 teleports, one by your temple and the other so that
it is hanging halfway of the edge of the vortex. Then simply pick up your
merrily dancing worshippers and drop them "gently" on the teleport by the
temple. They get sent to the other teleport and the vortex carries them to the
next world.

GLITCHES

Infinite Evil Points
Take over a town anyway possible and remove all of the food and population. Now
you should be getting evil points every few minutes due to the fact that you are
not feeding the town, although nobody is living in it.
Easy kills
Use your fire miracle to set fire to a tree, and then pick it up. If you then
hold it over enemy troops, there health will deplete and eventually the squad
will die. This works even in the enemy's main city.

Hint
Simply put on some early levels you are only able to build the Norse Wonder.
However the more Norse Wonders you build the more wood and food you will get for
every time you cast the miracle.
have The wood you waste on the 1st one will more than make up for itself by the time you've
built 10 or more.

When the portal opens cast the wood and food miracles rather than gathering it
all from your village store. It's faster. Place a building scafold near the
portal to suck in villagers when they come to build it. Beware that if they all
get sucked in you won't be able to use your miracles. If the population drops
too much set the totem to 0 and borrow some of the other villagers at the
worship site by placing them next to your totem. Be sure to cast a couple of
food miracles at the worship site or they'll slowly starve to death. It will be
easy to give them more than enough. It wouldn't hurt to drop some scafolds down
with you either. So you can start building wonders in the new land. It took 25
minutes for all the wood and food to stop coming through when I got to the next
level.
Villager Management
The more villagers you have, the more they can worship you! Early in the game,
set Breeder Disciples to work to create more disciples. To do this, pick up a
villager by right clicking on it. Then move it around the map until you see a
heart icon appear next to the villager of the opposite sex. Drop the villager
here and the 2 will begin to kiss and carry on. You know the rest... 9
months later the stork brings another loving devotee. It is most efficient to
target the male disciples, as they can impregnate several women at once.
To make sure the villagers have enough food and shelter, you will need to set
them to work doing tasks for the group. This works the same as mating (well,
from a purely administrative standpoint). Pick a villager up and drag it near
a tree, and an axe will appear. Drop the villager here and he will perform
Forestry duties. Drag villagers over a field of grain to start them farming.
Later in the game, villagers will also be employed to build in much the same
way. Keeping villagers active not only makes them happy, but provides them
with necessities.
It is good to build fields and forests near the store so your villagers will
not have far to take their goods.
If you don't feed the villagers, they will lose faith in your majesty. Keep
farmers active in the fields to provide enough food for the disciples.
Another major need that needs to be monitored is villager rest. To insure that
your people aren't fatigued, build homes in high-traffic areas. Restful
villagers are happy disciples.
Making a cemetery is another key to villager happiness. If there is a cemetery
in the village and sum1 dies, the villagers will not mourn as long, making
them more productive and happier. Another way to avoid mourning is to cast
dead villagers out to sea.
Miracles are a good way to quickly meet the needs of many villagers. In
addition, performing spectacular miracles such as lighting bolt, spiritual
shields and healing is a good way to convert a large number of villagers at
the same time. If you provide a resource they are lacking, such as wood, they
will be much more apt to convert to your side as well.
To gain more worshippers, you will have to expand your area of influence. To
help you do this, construct buildings on the very edge of your influence. By
stretching the boundaries, you can grow the faith and devotion.
Stay tuned to any flags raised at the village store as well. The villagers
will hoist a flag whenever they have a desire they need filled. Desires
include: Food, Wood, Village Expansion, Children Expansion, Civic Buildings
Expansion, Protection Desire and Mercy Desire. Paying attention and meeting
needs will win you favor with your subjects.

Storm
When the Storm miracle is cast, a cloud appears above the casting point and
unleashes a healthy downpour. Power it up to the 1st level Storm Miracle
Increase, then click over the selected area and use your mouse to trace the area
you'd like to affect. Use Storm to douse renegade flames or impress another
village. When powered-up to the 2nd level Storm Miracle Extreme, use the
combined lightning and tornado to strike fear into many hearts.

Infinite ore
Go into C:Program FilesLionhead StudiosBlack & White 2DatalandscapeBW2
Open one of the Land[numer].BWE files with notepad. Scroll down until you see
something like:
CREATE_ORE_LODE("912.90,514.99", "Ore Lode Normal", 2914, 1000, 0.000000)
Change normal to infinite, and repeat in every Land file. Changes won't take
effect until you move to the next land, however.

Change The Villagers Names
To change your villagers name go to the where you installed BW2, and go into:
...Black & White 2DataText
here you should see a .txt file called Villager Names. Change the names in the
file. Leaving the 'M' or 'F' before the name e.g. MJoe Bloggs
Load up your game and press 'S' which will bring up all the names of the
villagers, and look for the ones your names!

Play Soccer
Lionhead has released a new add-on for Black & White that will allow you to play
soccer in the game.
All you have to do is go to the site, download the slightly larger than 1 MB
add-on, and get to playing.
Once you have downloaded and installed the patch, just use 8 scaffolds from
your workshop to build a soccer pitch. When people in the town have no desires
that need addressing, they will begin to play soccer.
Just make sure you already have the 1.10 patch installed before you install the
soccer patch. You can make sure you have that patch by going here

Fun Day At The Beach
During the game you can press F2. You'll see 2 islands on the screen, the
smaller of the 2 islands will have 2 Beach Balls, 2 bowling balls and a
set of bowling pins. Look to the rear of the smaller island to find the toys.
See bats
Black & White allows you to be as good as you can be as well as a super evil
demonic overlord. The world that you oversee will change to reflect how you are
acting. One of the cooler things that can happen is the happy little white doves
you see flying will turn into black crows and then eventually evil bats.

Tip: Teaching Miracles to your Creature is a great idea. That way, he can run
around and meet needs while you tend to something else. Teaching a Creature Food
and Wood Miracles is especially helpful. To teach a Creature a Miracle, simply
repeat the process over and over while your beast is wearing the Learning Leash.
You will see its Miracle progress grow each time you demonstrate. When the meter
is at 100%, your Creature will be able to perform a Miracle all by his lonesome.

Fireball
This is a weapon of pure destruction, and should be used as such. Fireballs are
excellent tools in ravaging villages and gaining Belief. The beauty of it is
that if you throw it near wood, the fire will rage on and spread. You can set
houses, trees and any other wood on fire. To impress them even further (and
grow support), put out the fires you start with a Water or Storm Miracle.
In addition, you teach the Fireball to your Creature, and it will be able to use
it in fights. Throw a fireball much the same way you learned to throw boulders.
It takes a lot of practice to learn, so make sure you use the training on Land
Two to get the right touch.
Later on, you can expand this Miracle with the help of the Aztec Wonder. Now,
you will be able to throw clusters of 3 or five Fireballs. Neat!
