All Weapons
During a game, press start to pause the game and then hold L2. Then press Right, Up, Right, Right, Up, Left, Up, Right and then press Circle, X, Triangle, or Square.
Unlimited Credits
Accumulate over 6 hours of game play to unlock a "Free Play" mode.
Slow Motion
During a game, press start to pause the game and hold L2. Then press Right, Up, Right, Up, Down, Left, Down, Left, X.
Yellow Power-Up
Collect a Force Pod, then press start to pause game play. Now, hold L2 and press Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down + Circle.
Power Armor
The Power Armor is the best jet in the game. It can be accessed by successfully completing the game under the "Human" or higher difficulty setting, or by playing the game over one hundred times.

Press L2 10 times and R2 10 times at either the R-Type or R-Type II option at the title screen. Press start while playing to access any level or view the FMV sequences.
Red Power-Up
Collect a Force Pod, then press start to pause game play. Now, hold L2 and press Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down + Square.
Blue Power-Up
Collect a Force Pod, then press start to pause game play. Now, hold L2 and press Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down + X.
Turbo Mode
During a game, press start to pause the game and hold L2. Then press Right, Up, Right, Up, Down, Left, Down, Left, Circle.
Refill Force Power
Press start to pause game play. Now, hold L2 and press Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down + Triangle.
